It is my pleasure each week in class to witness the growing relationships between the parents and babies. The smiles, gazes, touches, giggles, and tender embraces were straight from the heart.
Frequent eye contact with a baby communicates how important that little one is to the adult. Combine eye contact with a loving touch and send powerful messages to that little one—You are safe. I will take care of you. I love you. Emotional security is as important to your baby’s development as eating and sleeping. With each loving expression you are helping your baby grow to be a confident, resilient learner.
This week use “waiting” time (grocery line, pediatrician waiting room, check out line) to emotionally connect to your little one. Combine eye contact and a loving touch with a favorite Kindermusik rhyme or finger play to turn waiting time into connecting time.
