Shakin’, Shakin’ is a favorite circle dance for children and adults alike. This particular song is an adaptation of several songs from the American folk heritage. The final phrase, “Shake them ‘simmons down,” is found in songs from several American folk cultures and refers to shaking the persimmons out of the tree. Now that we have all become familiar with this dance, can you teach it to your family?
Next week we will learn Go Into the Kitchen, another delightful circle dance which originated as a square dance tune. Until then…
